Tara Hofkens
Yoga Instructor
Tara is continually inspired by her experiences
with students and as a student of yoga. This inspiration has moved
Tara to dedicate herself to the study of yoga as a body, mind, heart,
and community practice.
Tara primarily studies hatha yoga in the Ashtanga and Iyengar
traditions. She also takes up some study of Anusara and Viniyoga. She
has completed a teacher training in Viniyoga, is halfway through a
1-year training in the Iyengar tradition, and continues to work with
her teachers in Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga to further her teaching and
practice. Her current emphasis in teaching and practice is on becoming
mindful of body alignment and breath.
When she is not practicing yoga, walking the dogs, or enjoying music,
Tara works full-time doing research in psychoneuroimmunology—exploring
how thoughts, feelings, and the effects of stress on the mind and body
influence our physical and emotional well-being.
