A good yoga program helps you manage pain, heal common ailments, and promote your overall well-being. Unlike other exercises, yoga generates energy rather than dissipates it. Yoga is both therapeutic and preventative in nature. It helps keep the nervous system elastic and capable of bearing stress. Yoga postures penetrate each layer of the body and, ultimately the consciousness itself. Only in yoga can you keep the body and the mind relaxed, even as you stretch, extend, rotate, and flex your body. The benefits are cumulative over time.


Yoga is more than just physical movement and postures, though you will gain flexibility and improve your strength. Breathing (something we can all do) is central to yoga. In mastering simple yogic breathing, you realize the breath has the power to change how you feel and think and, like the poses, breathing is done slowly, with mindfulness.
